Blue Heron Foundation received the prize for „The best project for the development of independent life skills” at the Award Gala of the Council of Institutionalized Youth of Romania.
This was the first gala organized exclusively by institutionalized Romanian youth and their representatives, a significant event for all the members this community.
Blue Heron Foundation (BHF) was nominated by Valentin-Napoleon Alexandru, one of Blue Heron’s scholarship recipients and a member of the CIY. BHF was considered among the most relevant „agents of change” who fought to reform the social care system and protected the rights of disadvantaged children and youth.
„With these awards, we honor those who work with and for the children and young people in the state’s care” the organizers declared.
The prize offered to Blue Heron Foundation by the CIY confirms the major impact BHF has had in the lives of institutionalized youth and the capacity of the university scholarship program to help them become independent, self-reliant and successful adults.
