In 2010 when I joined the Blue Heron family, I was a student at the “Alexandru Ioan-Cuza” University in Iasi. My mentor was Liviu Panait.
At first, the monthly progress reports seemed somewhat useless to me, but later on I discovered their true value in revealing one’s understanding of who they are.
The exchanges between the student and the mentor go beyond sharing a monthly report. My relationship with Liviu Panait turned into a friendship. He proved so open minded and invested into our relationship, in the best way. His help culminated during my graduation year, with the extraordinary experience of the Blue Heron Summer Camp. I remember leaving for camp with such a light heart, knowing I was going to a place ruled by love and understanding.

Afterwards, I was awarded a scholarship at University of Groningen (Netherlands), in Theoretical Chemistry and Computational Modeling. Starting in April 2012 I’ve also been invited to coordinate a laboratory on nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy.
I believe anyone can reach as far as they want to, supported by the encouragement and love that the Blue Heron Foundation provides.
